Reflection:  Are any of us well and without need of Christ?  Are any of us without sin and without need for redemption?  As the Letter to the Hebrews so clearly tells us, God is able to know our reflections and our thoughts, He is able to penetrate to our deepest being.  No matter how we may present ourselves to the world, there is no secret we can keep from God.  The Gospel today reminds us that we are all sinners and we are all in need of Christ.  We all need to heed His call when He says “Follow me.”  Follow Jesus to Mass, follow Jesus to confession, follow Jesus to the Eucharist, follow Jesus in every area of our life.

Big Picture:  Follow God

Discussion Starters:
     Younger saints:
What does it mean to “follow someone”?  (To watch what they do and to do it, to listen to the words they speak and to speak the same words, to try to be like the person you are following).  Who are we supposed to follow and copy in everything we do?  (Jesus).  How do we know how to follow Jesus?  (We follow the examples He gave us in the Gospel, we follow the commandments that God gave us, and we follow the teachings of the Catholic Church because these teachings are inspired by God).
Older saints:  Are you following Jesus in every area of your life?  In what areas are you striving and in what areas are you struggling?  How can you make small changes in your day that will help you to follow Jesus more completely?

Fun Fact:  We kneel during portions of the Mass to show humility, meekness, and submission to God.

Saint of the day:
     Name:
 St. Fillan
What they are remembered for:  St. Fillan became a Monk in his youth, and was later elected as the abbot of St. Andrew’s monastery.  He went on to build a church and was known for his many miracles.
     Feast day:  January 19

Daily Notes:
