Readings:
ACTS 5:27-32, 40B-41; PS 30:2, 4, 5-6, 11-12, 13; REV 5:11-14; JN 21:1-19

Reflection:  Just as Peter denied Jesus before His crucifixion, we will likely deny and turn away from God at various points in our lives.  Thankfully, God’s love for us is never ending.  He forgives us and welcomes us back.  All He asks is “do you love me?”  Just as Peter does, we must declare our love and our service, and show Him our love and service by following Him.  This might be a different vocation for each of us, but in all that we do we are called to follow Him and to love Him.

Reflection for kids:  Jesus questions Peter three times about his love for Jesus.  Just as Peter denied Him three times, He declares His love for Him three times.  Jesus knows Peter loves Him, but He asks Peter to tell Him and to show Him by following Jesus.

Big Picture:  “Follow me”

Discussion Starters:
Younger saints:  What does Jesus ask Peter?  How many times does He ask Peter?  What does Jesus ask us?  (Do you love me and will you follow me?)

Older saints:  How would you answer Jesus’ question for Peter?  Have you lived out your response?  Have you followed Him?

Scripture Verse for the Week:  “He then said to him a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” He said to him, “Yes, Lord, you know that I love you.”  John 21:16

You are now entering the mission field:  Apologize to someone you hurt or wronged this week (Spiritual works of mercy:  to forgive offenses willingly).
